FIGR Housing Department

To improve the living conditions of Tribal Citizens by providing decent, safe, and sanitary housing, eradicating substandard housing, reducing overcrowding, and increasing the affordability of rental housing and homeownership opportunitie by helping new residents out with essential household items, as well as other necessecities like bills by enquiring about these Reliant Energy rates, and others similar. This is all done through measures such as the provision of supportive services and financial assistance programs in a fair and impartial. Helping residents the best way possible is key to improving their living conditions. This can also be done by pointing them in the right direction of beneficial services such as getting them to find good companies for their home insurance as well. These are all staples within a home and ones that must not be looked on lightly. Getting and gathering as much information as possible about how to protect a home is needed to make sure it is kept secure. Mission

Main Functions:

  • To assist participants in obtaining or maintaining safe and affordable housing.
  • Conduct eligibility and intakes for services in the department.
  • Provide security deposits and monthly rental assistance payments.
  • To provide tools for learning and utilizing financial stability
  • Conduct rental assistance participant self-sufficiency education workshops, one-on-one counseling and other related support activities.
  • Conduct Federal environmental reviews for home rehabilitation services.
  • Obtain licensed contractors for construction-related activities for selected homes.
  • Assist tribal citizens with energy efficiency and conservation.
  • Tenant advocacy – Information and assistance to ensure tenants’ rights

  • Workshops/counseling for self-sufficiency of rental assistance participants in financial literacy , job seeking skills, job retention, obtaining a GED and resume creation.

  • One-on-one financial counseling.
  • Home rehabilitation services to home owners.

Historical Timeline

1595-1812 -The Spanish and Russian voyagers provided additional information about encounters with the Coast Miwok and their occupancy of the area, proving these Indian peoples continued to live in this area over the ensuing centuries. Russian outposts were established at Bodega Bay and Fort Ross in 1809 and 1812, respectively.
